What is an HR Management Consultant?

I see my role as helping businesses and charities improve their performance through their people. The most important asset of any organisation is, regardless of what anyone else might say, their people. (I'm sure you're probably thinking that I would say that!)

But think about it. Yes, financial resources are important. Machinery and systems might also be valuable to some. But without people, there are no ideas. And this means no chance of getting going, no chance of securing finance, no chance of doing the stuff that your clients or customers value, no chance of marketing, selling or communicating value and no chance of keeping up with the competition.

And, as you've probably already found out, just having people is not enough. For your enterprise to be successful, you need to have the right people who are also highly motivated and know what they're doing. Finding these rare and exotic beasts is likely to be no easy task. The good news is that you may already have many of the right people in place - you just haven't discovered yet how to unlock that potential. That's what I'm here to help with.

Fundamentally, an HR management consultant is someone with the expertise in the management of people to help organisations deliver against their enterprise’s strategies and goals. They are there to help you maximise the potential of your people through organisational structural changes and the development and implementation of people practices. They are there to advise you on how to manage your people in accordance with local HR legislation.

What impact can you expect from my HR support?

As you will already be aware, people issues can be complex. Sometimes there can be straightforward solutions but often it can be a case of stepping carefully through an issue and seeing what comes next before we choose our next step.

At the outset of our engagement, my simple goal is to provide you with as much certainty as I can, as early as possible. However, in most circumstances, I would be a fool to make any rash promises about quick and easy wins until we getting the fullest picture with the involvement of your employee or employees.

I then see my role as helping you to resolve your issues with the minimum cost, legal risk and time possible whilst doing our best to preserve the value that your people get from working in your organisation.
